Mr. Garateix has served as Heritage’s Chief Executive Officer since 2020, after previously serving as Chief Operating Officer from 2014 and Executive Vice President from 2012.  With a long career in the insurance industry, he brings extensive expertise in claims, underwriting, systems analysis, and operations.

He earned dual bachelor’s degrees in finance and management from Florida State University and began his career at United States Fidelity and Guaranty Company (USF&G), where he advanced through various claims positions and oversaw call center operations.  He went on to earn his MBA in Management Information Technology from the University of Tampa before joining FCCI Insurance Group as Associate Vice President of Information Technology.  From 2000 to 2007, he led a team of developers, directed major software implementations, and contributed to multi-state expansion projects.

Mr. Garateix later served as Vice President of Operations at American Integrity Insurance Group, where he oversaw all operational functions for the carrier, before joining Heritage.  He also holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU®) designation.

Kirk Lusk has served as Heritage Insurance’s Chief Financial Officer since April 2018 and as Co-Chief Financial Officer since January 2018. From 2013-2018, Mr. Lusk served as Chief Financial Officer of Narragansett Bay Insurance Company (“NBIC”), which was acquired by Heritage Insurance on November 20, 2017. Before that, Mr. Lusk served as International Chief Financial Officer of Aetna, Inc. from 2008-2012, Chief Financial Officer of Alea Group Holdings Bermuda Ltd. from 2005-2008 and Chief Financial Officer of GE ERC’s Global Casualty and GE Capital Auto Warranty Services from 1998-2004.

Mr. Moura has been in his current role since 2017, prior to which he served as SVP of Marketing, Agency, and Client Services since 2014. Prior to NBIC, Mr. Moura served as Vice President of Business Development and Commercial Lines for Tower Group Companies. Before that, Mr. Moura was Vice President, Underwriting and Product Management, Personal Lines, at OneBeacon Insurance Group.

Mr. Johns has been in his current role since 2018. Prior to Zephyr, Mr. Johns was Chief Consumer Officer at the Hawaii Medical Service Association, the largest health insurer in Hawaii. Before that, Mr. Johns held multiple executive leadership roles within private, public and non-profit enterprises in Hawaii.
